This news item has just appeared on the GEO website and shows the frustration of the Pakistani public. Such incidents have started happening regularly and the people, with no other option left, have taken the law into their own hands.

A bandit was severely thrashed by enraged public, when he was robbing a citizen near Jail Chowrangi, while the police, known for its expertise in rescuing the bandits, foiled public attempt to burn him by sprinkling petrol.

The incident was reported within the jurisdiction of the Jamshed Quarters police station. The public poured petrol over the bandit and were about to set him on fire, when the police reached the spot and saved the man.

Karachi police said that the accused Muhammad Amjad was caught red-handed by the citizens, when he was trying to snatch away mobile and other valuables on gunpoint. The desperate citizens, who now appear to have lost all faith in the police, judiciary and the so-called civil society, have started dispensing mass justice.

The bandit was, therefore, severely thrashed and the public was about to burn him by pouring petrol, when the police arriving in a dramatic manner saved bandit’s life. Police said that one accomplice of the accused could not be caught. Jamshed Quarter police have registered a case and the runaway accused Anwar Ali was being hunted down.
