Police say a teenage Harry Potter actor has been stabbed to death outside a bar in south London.

The 18-year-old Rob Knox was caught up in a fight outside the Metro bar in Sidcup in the early hours of Saturday morning, reported London's Metropolitian Police.

Knox plays Ravenclaw student Marcus Belby in the upcoming movie Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince. The sixth cinematic installment based on the wildly popular Harry Potter series of books is set for release this fall.

Police say Knox was one of five young men injured in the brawl. Among them was a 21-year-old man who has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police say they don't think the fight was gang-related.

But the stabbing has refocused attention on knife crime in the British capital.
