Nawaz vows to stand by government! What does he want?Category: Current Affairs Written by: Amend Foster (on May 16, 2008 - 01:08 PM)E-Mail Article to a Friend
I am totally confused. Below is a news item published on the GEO website:
ISLAMABAD: The Head of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Mian Nawaz Sharif has
said conspiracy activities are being undertaken to weaken democracy in
the country but he will do utmost to foil any such attempts against PPP
government.
In an exclusive interview in Geo News program
Capital Talk, Sharif said PML-N joined government at the promise that
judges would be reinstated in 30 days. He said the Murree declaration
also favored restoration of judges through a resolution.
Nawaz
Sharif said political reconciliation should be based on some principle
and PML-N would support political parties and lawyers in their struggle
to reinstate judiciary. He said Punjab government would not become a
barrier in the struggle to restore judiciary and he would also invite
Asif Zardari to sit in the “Judicial Bus”.
Now what exactly does he want to do? He had made all his ministers resign from their official portfolio's. Was it just an eye-wash for the people of Pakistan?
In the morning paper, I read that Mr. Zardari has formally asked PM Gilani not to accept the resignations. Highlight the word 'formally'! Anyway, so Sharif Sahab is more or less part of the government and it appears that he is not willing to let go of it.
What he's trying to do is to retain him and his party in the government, while fooling the people that he is on a principled stance.
We all supported your stance when you decided to quit the government, but this news item suggests that it was nothing but an eye-wash!!
