Shujaat Blushing?! Q-Women make him Proud!Category: Current Affairs Written by: Ammar (on February 27, 2008 - 03:46 AM)E-Mail Article to a Friend
Funny! He stills feels proud of defeat? Yeah, he can, because the women's wing reposed their confidence in him! The PML-Q, a bunch of side-lined politicians who suddenly sprawled the country and started making big money faced a shocker in the February 18th elections. There are some who firouciously oppose Musharraf, while there are those who want him to stay in quite a large number too. But whatever one's personal belief may be, the majority agrees that the performance of the PML-Q as a frontline party was a disaster! For the people and for themselves, which they have (apparently) gracefully accepted. They were addressing a press conference together. Chaudhry SHujaat Hussain flanked by the two prominent lady politicians, SUmaira Malik (President PML-Q, womens wing) and Kashmala Tariq. The womens wing of the PML-Q is by far the most active representation of women in politics (in media and in general), boasting a few resolutions passed in the National Assembly to their credit. Duting the press conference, Shujaat brushed aside the assertion of the rebel senators that the party badly lacked democratic norms. "Those who are talking of lack of democracy in the party should tell the nation how much democracy persists in those parties to whom they want to switch over. Actually, The PPPP and the PML-N have life-time party heads," he said. The rebel group formation would make no difference as members do not matter in democracy and rather the quality matters in the political process, he said. The women leaders also spoke furiously against Senator Nilofar Bakhtiyar for joining the dissident group of senators. The PML-Q leader said he was happy that women wing had reposed confidence in him as president which had made him a proud politician. "The fact that the PML senators, parliamentary party and now the women wing have reposed confidence in my leadership has made me so proud that I feel that despite defeat in polls, I have won the confidence" he said. Blushing, Sir? Sumaira Malik said the PML government had ensured maximum legislation to ensure women rights. The PML government had ensured women representation in the parliament, provinces and local governments, she said. "Our women members will play a positive and constructive role as opposition inside and outside the parliament," she said, added she was elected as most effective ten parliamentarians in the world. The fact remains that the PML-Q has faced a humiliating defeat thanks to their own misgivings to the people of Pakistan. The women protection bill has not helped the common man who now struggles for flour and sugar! It has not helped the civilised either! You rode the bandwagon, Sir, because you supported and you still support the President. A sincere politician would have supported the people of Pakistan and earned more votes. We have to give Musharraf due credit for preventing mass scale rigging, no denying that, but these politicians must realise that the people will shun all those who do not follow the emotions and feelings of the nation!
