Imran Khan stopped from entering Karachi, AGAIN!!Category: City Written by: Faisal K (on February 08, 2008 - 10:15 AM)E-Mail Article to a Friend
For the fourth time in a small passage of months, Imran Khan has been stopped from entering Karachi yet again. I wonder what it is, that makes the authorities so wary of this cricketer turned politician.
Perhaps it is the fact that he spoke openly against those who control this city? And hold it and its population hostage whenever they feel like it, to extort money or power from their behalf? It has been long since anyone has dared to challenge the one in London Town in his own court. For that is what him and his organization treat Karachi as a personal darbar.
The government claims he is banned from Karachi because he engages in anti government and anti election activities. He has boycotted the upcoming election so how can he be engaging in anti electionism? He is not even part of the process any longer. Is it only in Karachi that the elections are taking place?
The government can try as many times as they want to pull wool over the population’s eyes, however what they no longer realize or take into account is that this nation has woken up. Gone are the times when people would switch to channels like PTV to get their daily diet of news from the propaganda machine. There are more than 12 news channels in operation today which provide the people with views from each and every angle, thus nothing is secret no more. The people know it all.
One cannot stop anyone who speaks the truth these days, and Imran no matter what his personal vices may be has till date always tried to speak the truth. Perhaps one day we shall find out what he has said that irks our authorities to this extent that they do not even let him enter the city of lights. All this while other members of APDM the alliance which he is part of and all boycotters of the upcoming election are free to come and go as they please.
The caretaker setup should stop these things from happening, as they are fast turning into the laughing stock that the government before it had become. Times to take orders from London town are soon coming to an end. Share your thoughts by posting a Talk-Back:
