Is it true that we have lost our self-esteem as a nation? This is what truly happened to us. This is what has become of Us! This is what the text in the image says:

Added to this article is a scanned copy of something from the year 1835.

------------------------

LORD 'S ADDRESS TO THE BRITISH PARLIAMENT, 2 FEBRUARY, 1835

"I have travelled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such caliber, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage, and, therefore, I propose that we replace the old and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will lose their self-esteem, there native culture and they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation."

A scanned image of the address by Lord MACAULAY to the British Parliament in 1835

So did they succeed? Do I doubt their success, or do You? Nobody does! We still stand divided and still hold foreign and particularly 'english' ways of living far more superior to ours!

Are we ready to uphold our self-esteem NOW? Or are we still going to live they way we have for centuries now?

Have your say, talk-back to this post!

Ammar:whats the ....... about faisal? to be continued? no seriously., what can be done to restore that self-esteem as a nation?

Faisal:..... means a real big list of things we ignored. To restore our selfesteem we need to believe in our selves, our ideology and real thing is to stick with our fundamentals! Yes! follow a real fundamentalist approach coz if we say Pakistan is an Islamic State then there should be no shame in adapting Islamic principles of Justice, equality, honesty and the love of freedom. We need to define our own goals and objectives based on our own ideology <not becoming followers of other nations> and should ve enough confidence in our selves that we can do any thing a human can. And it requires the change in our thinking.

Sheikh Saad Jamal:I think they have succeeded in doing what they have decided. They ruined our culture, traditions and history and now we are called as third world but if we look back 2 to 4 hundred years before these white did not have much potential to stand before the Great muslim leaders ........... so what have they done to us.... Today !we have to think where we stands, and where we are going ? it's time to think before it is too late and we extinguish from the Globe......
